How is transactional analysis used in business? 🔹 Transactional analysis is a simple way to understand from which inner state a person is speaking and how they build communication with others. 🔸 This model often describes three states: Parent, Adult, and Child. The Parent state is about pressure, criticism, control, and ready-made judgments. The Child state is about emotions, fear, resentment, impulsiveness, or sometimes spontaneity and liveliness. The Adult state is calm, clear, and focused on the real situation. 🔹 In business, this becomes especially visible in negotiations, management, and workplace conflicts. For example, a manager says to an employee: “Why did you do it wrong again?” This often comes from the Parent state. In response, the employee may move into the Child state: they may justify themselves, feel offended, withdraw, or become defensive. When a person returns to the Adult state, communication changes. Instead of saying: “Why are you always careless?” they say: “There is a mistake in this part. A client may speak sharply, doubt your offer, or argue not because they want conflict, but because they feel tension, distrust, or fear of making the wrong decision. If the salesperson also becomes defensive, the conversation gets worse. If they stay in the Adult state, they do not pressure, take offense, or argue for the sake of arguing.
