Today at Bangkok International Airport the competent authorities of the Kingdom of Thailand handed over to the Russian police a man who was on the internationally wanted list for large-scale fraud. According to the investigation, in the period of time from 2021 to 2024, the perpetrator provided false information during the fulfillment of government contracts of the defense industry. Thus, using fiction companies, he embezzled budget funds more over than 3.2 billion rubles. In April of 2025 a criminal case was initiated under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code. The accused fled the Russian Federation and hid himself abroad. Pursuant to the instructions of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, based on the materials provided by the General Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Voronezh, an international search for the defendant was initiated in December 2025. Due to cooperation via INTERPOL channels, information regarding the arrest of mentioned person was received from Thai partners. The criminal will be transported to the Russian Federation for investigative action.
