NVIDIA has been developing server racks that are suitable for solutions based on third-party AI accelerators, according to The Information, citing sources familiar with the matter. The company is aiming to remain a key player in the AI system market, even as more of its customers are developing solutions that directly compete with NVIDIA's own products. Last week, the company introduced new MGX ETL racks that are specifically designed to support both NVIDIA's own chips and those from competing vendors. The system is based on the modular MGX (OCP) architecture, which was introduced in 2023 and is already quite widespread. ETL involves the use of NVIDIA Spectrum-X network solutions. Thus, even if the infrastructure is based on third-party solutions, green chips are still included.
