Первый неудачный урок Наша коллега и teacher trainer по детским программам Анка Запарт поделилась историей из своей преподавательской практики. Это рассказ о первом пробном уроке, который сначала казался настоящей катастрофой... 😵‍💫 A day before the lesson, the admin of the school informs me that I will have a student coming for a trial lesson. Perfect timing – we are to start a new unit, so everyone, including the new student, will be learning new things together. Sasha arrives late, so she misses a chance to interact with the group before the lesson. And she is shy, so shy! She is sitting there, just looking at her pretty shoes, and simply rejecting the situation, paying no attention to the teacher, the other kids, the flashcards, the games and the songs, for about 30 minutes. Until, after having used everything, I remember that I have a new puppet – a silly toucan-like bird, with huge goggly eyes, a colourful body and a beak that opens and shuts. ‘Hello everyone! My name is Alexandra’ says the bird in my puppet voice. Everyone is giggling, and the magic happens. Sasha looks up from the floor and looks directly at Alexandra and at the teacher. Finally! It still takes one more lesson for Sasha to start using the resources and talking to other children and two more lessons to stop hesitating before entering the room, but looking at her today, nobody would be able to tell that she had such a difficult start. What are the lessons from that…lesson? First lessons are tricky, especially for the very young learners. So, dear teacher – put a big smile on your face, don’t lose hope and, just in case, get your Alexandra ready! 🤩 А у вас были такие уроки с young learners?
