“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you”. (Mt 6. 31-33) (NIV) The Lord promises that we will have "in addition" everything we need - food, drink, clothing - everything that pagans seek, that is, ordinary people who do not know the true God. These people have their own gods, whom they serve. In particular, this object of service can be food, drink, clothing - exactly what Jesus called not to care about. Or rather, not to care about this in the first place. "First, He says, seek the Kingdom [of God], all these things will be added to you." The choice that a person makes puts him before the discovery - whether he is a pagan or serves the true God.
