Part 1 is the introduction and interview. The main goal here is to help you feel comfortable and to assess your ability to talk about familiar topics. You’ll be asked simple questions about your home, your hobbies, your studies, etc. The focus is on fluency, pronunciation, and basic vocabulary. There’s no strict word limit, but responses should be concise and natural, usually around 1-2 minutes in total. Part 2 is the long turn. Here, you’ll get a task card with a topic, and you’ll have one minute to prepare. Then you speak for about one to two minutes. The goal is to demonstrate your ability to organize your thoughts, use a range of vocabulary and grammatical structures, and speak coherently on a single topic. It’s more about depth and detail in your response. Part 3 is the discussion. This part explores abstract ideas and issues related to the topic in Part 2. The goal is to show your ability to discuss complex ideas, justify your opinions, and engage in deeper, more analytical conversations. To improve, focus on expanding your vocabulary, varying your sentence structures, and practicing coherence and fluency.
