🎉 APCOM-2025 Concludes in Qingdao On September 15, the Asia-Pacific Conference on Fundamental Problems of Opto- and Microelectronics (APCOM-2025) wrapped up in Qingdao, hosted by Harbin Engineering University. The conference has been running for 23 years under the auspices of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and this year was co-organized with the ITMO-HEU Joint Center. According to conference chair Academician Yuri Kulchin, the scope of APCOM is expanding: from microelectronics and photonics to nanotechnology and optoelectronics — keeping pace with today’s scientific challenges. We also spoke with one of the organizers, Sergey Makarov, who shared his impressions: 💬 “This conference is truly an important event. Its unique format, with roughly equal participation from Russian and Chinese researchers, stands out: everyone attends in person, presents offline, and exchanges cutting-edge ideas. The most valuable part happens in the informal discussions, where plans for future collaborations are born. APCOM is perfectly timed to help shape joint Russian–Chinese project proposals. We believe it acts as a real driver of international cooperation, and joint projects are the key to successful collaboration” 🌟 Highlights from the conference talks included: - Prof. Haizheng Zhong (Beijing Institute of Technology) — the future of quantum dots for displays. - Prof. Qihua Xiong (Tsinghua University) — perovskites and new concepts for optical and neuromorphic computing. - Prof. Alexey Kavokin (A. Abrikosov International Center for Theoretical Physics) — theoretical foundations of emerging effects. - Academician Sergey Deev (Lebedev Physical Institute, RAS) — nanotechnologies in cancer research. - Prof. Daria Andreeva (National University of Singapore) — membrane technologies. - Academician Yuri Kulchin (Institute of Automation and Control Processes, FEB RAS) — the role of light in plant growth and crop yields. 🔹 ITMO at APCOM Our colleagues Ivan Iorsh, Andrey Bogdanov, Alexandra Furasova, Lev Logunov, as well as researchers from the Megafaculty: Nikolay Petrov, Elena Krivoshapkina, Ekaterina Skorb, presented their latest work. We were also delighted to see ITMO alumni taking part as invited speakers: Georgy Zograf (Nanyang Technological University, Singapore) gave a talk at the conference. 🏆 Special congratulations to our PhD student Stepan Ilyin, who received the Best Poster Award at APCOM-2025! 🇷🇺 Новость на русском
