3 counties, 6 cities in a 5 days
In the last six days, I managed to visit three countries and six cities! My main goal was to meet with a lawyer in Montenegro to discuss the prospects of working here on a DeFi project. But I also planned to visit the new, hyped-up country - Liberland, where the Prime Minister is Justin Sun.Liberland is squeezed between Croatia and Serbia. Now, here is the most important thing you need to understand if you are planning to go there: Liberland does not have a connection to Serbia via a regular road! This means you have to enter Croatia first and only then can you get to Liberland. Since I don't have a visa, this proved to be an insurmountable challenge for me. However, I only learned about this upon arrival in the city of Subotica. By the way, Subotica itself is home to the second largest synagogue in Europe. Yet, fewer than 200 Jewish people remain in Subotica. And it's no wonder, as in a city with a population of 100,000, there isn't even a waiting area with a rain canopy at the train station. Overall, throughout the entire trip, I couldn't shake the feeling that the country is degrading and falling apart. But let's return to my route. My route
I flew from Montenegro to Belgrade and took the high-speed train to the city of Subotica - trains run every hour. From there, there were two options: either take the only train the next day to a town Sombor that located in 25 km far away from the Croatian border, or go back to Novi Sad and take a bus to the town of Apatin.I chose a third option. After talking to the locals, they said the only way to get to Liberland was to pay a taxi to Apatin (€170) and illegally cross the Danube with fishermen to get to the other bank where Liberland is located. At that point, my desire disappeared, as I still plan to visit Europe, and I don't need to risk deportation. Belgrade
Since visiting Liberland was a secondary task for me, I wasn't too upset. I also saw the city of Novi Sad and visited a wonderful Christmas fair in Belgrade, which overshadowed the sad feeling from the remote, isolated places in Serbia and gave me the first sense of the New Year's mood. We await snow and Christmas, my friends.
