🇰🇿Visit of the Delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan to FLNP On March 25, 2026, a delegation from the Republic of Kazakhstan visited the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics at JINR. The delegation included: 🟣Gulzat Kobenova — Vice-Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan; 🟣Adilzhan Serikov — Director of the Department of Strategic and Sustainable Development of the RSE "Institute of Nuclear Physics" of the NAE RK; 🟣Askar Dzhumadildayev — Vice-President of the NAO "National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan" under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan; 🟣Yerzhan Mukhamedzhanov — Head of the Kazakhstan National Group at JINR. "We have a long-standing and fruitful cooperation with scientists from Kazakhstan. Today's meeting at the laboratory and the tour of the IBR-2 reactor is not just an introduction to the facility, but an opportunity to discuss concrete steps to strengthen our collaboration. I am confident that our joint potential will allow us to embark on new large-scale projects," commented Egor Lychagin, Director of FLNP. ⚛️ The guests visited the IBR-2 research reactor — the flagship facility of FLNP JINR. A detailed presentation of the capabilities of the IBR-2 spectrometer complex was given. The integration of scientific programs and the possibility of expanding the participation of Kazakhstani scientists in experiments at JINR were of particular interest to the meeting participants. "The Kazakh delegation paid special attention to getting acquainted with the IBR-2 pulsed reactor, as well as its modern instrumental base, including the YUMO, FDPR, NRT, and REGATA facilities. Gaining a comprehensive understanding of the scientific and technological capabilities of these research facilities is of fundamental importance for the development of Kazakhstan's own modern research infrastructure in the field of neutron physics. Cooperation with JINR, including through the Laboratory of Neutron Physics, is seen as an important contribution to the development of national scientific priorities, including the preparation of a 'megascience' class project aimed at creating high-intensity sources of very cold and ultracold neutrons based on the VVR-K reactor," noted Bagdaulet Mukhametuly, Deputy Director of FLNP. Also today, on March 27, Sayabek Sakhiyev — Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, and Director General of the RSE "Institute of Nuclear Physics" of the NAE RK — celebrates his 55th anniversary. The staff of the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics sincerely congratulates Sayabek Sakhiev and wishes him prosperity, stability, and the achievement of all his ambitious goals! Read more
