✍🏻 More than 40 US organizations sent an open letter to the Senate asking it to approve Democratic Caroline Crenshaw as head of the SEC. The reality of a bipartisan Commission is at stake. The incoming Trump administration has signaled it is considering abandoning the tradition of the opposing party selecting candidates for the two minority seats. The SEC charter stipulates that it is impossible for representatives of one of the parties to occupy more than three of the five commissioner posts. But the authors of the letter admit that the president-elect’s team will simply leave two seats vacant. This would give Republicans control of the department for the next five years. #SEC
