On March 19, 1649, something huge happened in Britain. It was during the English Revolution. The House of Commons made a radical decision: they voted to abolish the House of Lords. 👑❌ For a very long time, the House of Lords (people who were nobles or bishops) had a lot of power. But after the Civil War and the execution of King Charles I, Parliament wanted to change everything. By getting rid of the House of Lords, England was declared a Commonwealth.
