Web3 Alpha: The Shift From Protocols to Coordination Layers The next wave of Web3 alpha isn’t about launching another protocol.
It’s about who controls coordination. Most early crypto systems optimized for trust minimization and censorship resistance. That problem is largely solved. What isn’t solved is how capital, agents, and users coordinate efficiently at scale without central points of failure. That’s the gap opening right now. We’re entering a phase where: • users don’t want to manage complexity
• agents need constrained autonomy
• capital needs programmable rules
• systems must scale without human oversight This forces a redesign of how Web3 infrastructure works. Instead of wallets → balances → transactions, the stack is moving toward: intent → permission → execution. This is subtle but powerful.
It means systems don’t just move assets they express constraints, context, and authorization. And that’s what unlocks new behavior: autonomous finance, agent-driven execution, and multi-party coordination without custodians. Alpha is forming around teams that understand this shift early. Another underappreciated signal: interoperability is no longer just about chains. It’s about interoperability between roles, humans, agents, applications, and capital pools operating under shared rules. The projects positioned best here aren’t chasing maximal TVL.
They’re designing systems where: – liquidity can be shared without being pooled
– execution can happen without holding funds
– permissions are granular, composable, and revocable
– coordination doesn’t rely on trust assumptions This is infrastructure that compounds. The market tends to undervalue these layers because they don’t create immediate price action. But historically, these are the systems that everything else ends up depending on. That’s where asymmetric upside lives. If you’re filtering noise, one heuristic helps: ask whether a project reduces coordination costs for others.
If the answer is yes, it’s probably closer to real alpha than it looks. Tagging builders operating in this direction 👇 @TonSoai
